Case studies of PbyP in schools

PbyP is being used in settings from Early Years to FE and we are building up a portfolio of case studies. Some schools have links for more information. If you are already using PbyP and would like to share your case study with other schools, please complete a brief description like those listed below and send it to . Each month in the newsletter we will be featuring one case study in more detail. Those with links for further information below, have already been featured in this way.
Early Years and Foundations Stage
PbyP Foundations was launched in November 2008 so case studies should begin to emerge in the summer.
Primary
The Five Islands school, Isles of Scilly are using PbyP to evidence and peer assess skills developed through the introduction of a whole-school weekly Enrichment Afternoon. Click here for more information.
Capel-le-Ferne Primary School, Folkestone are using Personalisation by Pieces to support the implementation of curriculum changes designed to develop thinking and learning skills in a primary school. Click here for more information.
Serlby school, Doncaster are using Personalisation by Pieces to develop peer assessment skills in a 3-18 age setting.
Radstock school, Wokingham are using Personalisation by Pieces to support personalised learning and learner responsibility in Year 6. Click here for more information.
Pearl Hyde school, Coventry used the team working tools in PbyP to enable pupil management of their environmental area and pond project.
St Gildas school, Yeovil used the peer mentoring tools in PbyP to allocate mentors across the school community and to set-up and record meetings.
Secondary
St Laurence school, Bradford on Avon are using Personalisation by Pieces to deliver the Personal, Learning and Thinking Skills with Year 7 through dedicated curriculum time.
The Marches School, Oswestry have used PbyP profiles for homework replacement in English teaching and learning.
Serlby school, Doncaster have used PbyP to develop peer mentoring. A Becta best practice video has been made of their work. Click here to view it.
The Grange School and Sports College have created a booklet for all year 7 to take with them at all times which provides them with different ways of recording and thinking about PLTS. This recognises that they won’t always have access to ICT when evidence occurs so they can record notes and ideas for later.
