Cambridge Education are running one-day workshops for schools that have either just purchased PbyP or who are seriously considering implementation. The workshops provide an understanding of how the scheme works and detailed guidance on how to get started. Click on this link to book a place on an event near you.

Other events featuring PbyP

The PbyP approach to transforming learning has gained considerable support and publicity. Schools involved in the project are frequently asked to present at cluster groups, Local Authority events and national conferences and we are unfortunately unable to keep up to date listings of such events. If, however, you would like to hear a presentation on PbyP from its originator then the following events may have places available, please contact Cambridge Education and we will put you in touch with the event organisers.

June 2010

Work begins on the launch of PbyP version 2 to be released in June. No further events are planned until after this date.

21st: Launch of the Cambridgeshire Transformation project.

A groundbreaking new project to use PbyP as pat of a transformation package with a number of Cambridgeshire schools.

26th: Building Schools for the Future one day workshop in Thailand

A workshop for the 52 schools currently earmarked for Thailand’s phase 1 BSF scheme. Establishing a vision and change management structure with 21st century competencies at te heart of the process.

24th: Keynote presentation at the UNESCO World Teacher’s Forum in Bangkok.

PbyP was presented as part of the changing lndscape of education internationally.

19th: PbyP implementation and training event in London

Training and awareness raising delegate course for schools taking place in Islington in London.

18th: Presentation at the Guardian Education PfS conference

Presenting how the P-route and T-route has influenced the design of some of the schools for which CE provided educational support to the construction company Bouygues UK and which won recent national awards.

13th: Initial meeting of Scottish schools in Glasgow with Learning Unlimited

A meeting with a dozen schools from different areas of Scotland to explore the possibility of a launch of PbyP in Scottish Schools using the specially poduced Curriculum for Excellence skills ladder set, poster and resources pack.

3rd: Presentation at the Naace Annual Conference in Blackpool.

Presentation of PbyP to attendees at the Naace national conference which this year is in Blackpool.

February 2009 (Past Events)

27th: Presentation at the National Association of Secondary School Principles in San Diego.

As part of the NASSP’s impressive change management structure entitled ‘Breaking Ranks’ there are a series of presentations by national and international speakers showing how these principles are and could be applied.

12th: Befordshire Cluster Training event part 2.

As part of an eight school cluster implementation of PbyP in Bedforshire schools.

12th - 16th: Series of events throughout the week of the BETT show and Learning & Technology World Forum.

As well as fomal presentations, Cambridge Education representatives are available throughout the week for LA, cluster and single school discussions. Please contact the Cambridge Office if you have a specific request.

11th: Workshop for the largest 50 schools in Thailand.

This workshopwas postponed due to the political unrest in Thailand and will now take place in March.

9th: Keynote presention and chaired theme at the teacher’s world forum.

This event is organised through the British Council and the world forum.

PbyP one year on: Sharing practice conference for PbyP schools.

This event has been moved to September to allow us to include case studies with the new Personal Learning and Thinking Skills. We will bring together schools from across the UK that have been involved with PbyP so they can share ideas and solutions. Schools will be invited to give presentations, host discussions or write case studies for wider circulation. Schools that have not yet become involved in PbyP can also come and find out first hand, how to launch a PbyP project in their school or institution. Download the flyer here.

In-school consultancies

Due to the considerable success of the PLTS launch, we were asked to conduct three in-school consultancies in May, 12 in June and have so far received six requests for July. These range from Kent and the Isle of Wight to Scotland . If you would like to arrange in-school consultancy at your school please email us at . Alternately if you would like to attend an existing session in another school, please contact us and we will approach schools on your behalf. 20th PbyP training event in Manchester

This was for all schools considering PbyP for the first time or for those who have committed but require help with implementation of their first project. This group will be the first to receive the new PLT materials.

3rd to 20th Four INSED days for school clusters

Schools are increasingly making use of our offer to present locally to clusters. We charge them our daily rate and then they are free to invite other schools from the area at no extra cost to help them reduce the price. There may be one in your area we can put you in touch with or alternatively you can bring together your own cluster. Such clusters are also proving effective in providing support and networking in that they share interesting practice locally after the event.

An open seminar at the Education show. As the theme this year is literacy we will be presenting PbyP with specific examples drawn from literacy work completed by learners as evidence of progression. We will also be considering the role of peer review sites in general.

15th Yeovil Cluster Training

In a number of authorities, schools have clustered together to provide mutual support and share expertise. The Yeovil cluster will be launching on 15th. Dan Buckley will be working with learners on this stand from 10 till 1.30. Steven Heppell is one of the UK’s main advocates for Learners and this stand at BETT is always a place where you can find out new ideas and try to catch up with what children are doing.

11th Steljes Presentation

We will be presenting our joint work with Steljes in the field of handheld learning. This will take place at 11.30 at the Steljes stand

11th BETT Seminar in Seminar room B

We will be presenting in Seminar Room B at 2.15 on Friday 11th January. We will be available for questions after the event and will have information fliers available together with reading material from our partners Futurelab.

Last year we were invited by the then DfES standards unit to present our ideas for PbyP. You can see the presentation on their website. The response was excellent both in terms of support and enthusiasm. We are working hard to launch some new functionality this year too.

12th Team Presentation

As a BETT award finalist we have been provided with opportunities to present PbyP at their stand and at other locations throughout the show. Please look out for information on this in the BETT literature.

There will be two Personalisation by Pieces seminars taking place as part of the TES Education 2007 show taking place in London 28-29th September 2007.
