Dolphin Screen Reader gives PbyP the green light

Dolphin Screen Reader gives PbyP the green light

Dolphin screen reader is widely recognised as one of the pre-eminent solutions for learners with special needs. The software is loaded first and then allows the PC to read out whatever is on screen.

We conducted a test of the web tool and arrived at some guidelines which the developers have been working to incorporate.

In January, Dolphin conducted their own test of the website and concluded that it functioned well and was supported with only one remaining issue around reading headings in the profile.

After the April 1st release we will be returning to Dolphin to verify that all the developments made since January have not conflicted with compliance.

The restrictions placed on the developers to ensure that the software could perform equally well on the Mobile platform has also resulted in a simplification of the underlying code which makes it much more compatible for students with Special needs. It is ironic that designing for a device less suitable has resulted in software which is more.
