Staying in education, work or training makes young people happier.

A new poll from Yougov commissioned by The Prince's Trust has found high levels of unhappiness and stress among young people but less among those in education or training.

The Prince's Trust commissioned Yougov to conduct the survey of 2000 16-25 year olds in October 2008. The interviews took place online asking respondents their current attitudes and state of mind regarding various aspects of life.

Almost half those polled said they were "regularly stressed" with an alarming 10% feeling "no hope for the future". Those young people who were not in education or training were much more likely to express unhappiness and stress. Issues of family relationships and support were identified as the key to happiness and success by respondents.

The report was published on January 6th to coincide with the launch by The Prince's Trust of new support for thousands of young people on its Team Programme, a 12 week scheme developing skills, self-esteem and resilience. Click the link to find out more about the scheme and the Report.
