The New Ofsted Framework

More details of the new Ofsted Inspection Framework have been published.
Ofsted Acting Chief, Miriam Rosen, has announced more details of the new streamlined inspection framework, to be used by Ofsted from January 2012.
The new framework will emphasise 4 key areas:
Pupil Achievement
Teaching standards
Behaviour
School Leadership
The move from the previous 26 separate assessments to four removes some of the social and community-related criteria of the previous inspection framework such as community cohesion and healthy living.
Under the new framework:
Schools rated as Outstanding: will only be inspected if results decline or parental concerns prompt an inspection.
Schools Rated Good will be inspected at least every five years.
Schools Rated Satisfactory will be inspected at least every three years.
Schools rated Inadequate will be more closely monitored, with a re-inspection likely within a year.
Ofsted have also announced they will set up a website facility for parents and carers to anonymously fill in questionnaires about the schools their children attend. The results of these questionnaires will be published. The website is expected to go live in late October 2011.
