The School I’d Like …

Thousands of children describe their ideal school.
The Children’s Manifesto 2011 has been published by The Guardian newspaper. Thousands of children submitted their own ideas describing their ideal school, classroom and education under the title, The School I’d Like..
The 15,000 survey entries are read by a panel including children who compiled them into a Manifesto for schools of the future.
The findings of the survey revealed that children had some clear ideas about how schools could be improved: “The most important aspect of education children want changed is the timetable. They wanted their educational experience to be tailored to them. Sausage-machine schooling, with a one-size-fits-all schedule, is their biggest complaint. They don’t want to do less work. They just want work that enthuses and means something to them.”
The Children’s Manifesto will be presented to policy makers in education. To read more about the survey and the results read the article online.
